International Recognition and Qualification
Cilantro Culinary Academy is the largest private vocational culinary and pastry academy in Malaysia. We offer 5 qualifications in 1 programme which come in handy as students are eligible to hold 5 qualifications from both local and international, in one programme. For local qualification, it consists of the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM 2 and SKM 3) by Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran. As for the international qualification, it consists of City and Guilds Level 2 IVQ, and the Australian Qualification Certificate III in Commercial Cookery/ Patisserie. Last but not least, Cilantro graduates in diploma level are eligible for an automatic certification from the World Association of Chefs Societies (Worldchefs) at the Professional Cook (Commis Chef) title upon graduation from the City and Guilds programme.
International Exposure during their diploma studies
Student in our academy spend at least 70% of their time in the kitchen and the rest enhancing their underpinning knowledge of the hospitality industry. This is to enable our students to be prepared, and face various challenges in the near future. This year we send our students to international competitions; such as Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. A total of 5 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals, and 4 Bronze medals were won by our students in both culinary and pastry section. Students achievement has proven the quality education offered by Cilantro Culinary Academy. Skills that learnt by the students are being applied during their competition and public events. One of our gold medalist, Ms. Ong Ai Vun said that study in Cilantro Culinary Academy helps her to polish and enhance her skills in pasty as practice makes perfect.
A team of experienced professional chefs and top-notch facilities & equipment
With international standard kitchen layout for our student, students are able to cope up with their industrial exposure in the kitchen. Other than that, classes are being conducted in a small tutorial size in order for chef instructor to monitor each student’s work closely. Chef instructors in Cilantro are not just professional experience chefs from 5-star hotels but they are certified trainer by Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) and City and Guilds (C&G). Cilantro equipped students with essential knowledge and core skill which are needed in the field of culinary and pastry during their studies, so that they are able to compete with others in the near future or when they are hunting for jobs.
